The US network “Telemundo” and “Canal RCN” have announced a new version of “Café, con aroma de mujer”, one of the most successful Colombian telenovelas of all time, the original version of which was produced by “RCN Colombia” and aired between 1994 and 1995.
It was written by the late librettist Fernando Gaitán, also author of “Yo soy Betty, la fea”.
“‘Café, con aroma de mujer’ returns 26 years after becoming a television phenomenon around the world,” said Telemundo.

Its protagonists in the first version were Margarita Rosa de Francisco, who played the character of “Gaviota”, a coffee picker, and Guy Ecker, who played “Sebastián Vallejo”, a member of one of the most powerful families in the farmers’ union. of coffee of Colombia. In the story, both of them have to overcome various obstacles that prevent them from being together and living their love.
This version will feature Cuban William Levy and Colombian actress Laura Londoño. The cast will also include Carmen Villalobos, Diego Cadavid, Lincoln Palomeque, Mábel Moreno, Katherine Vélez, Andrés Toro and Laura Archbold, among others.
The production, which will be broadcast by “Canal RCN” in Colombia and by “Telemundo” in the United States, will be directed by Mauricio Cruz and Olga Lucía Rodríguez. For their part, Adriana Suárez, Javier Giraldo and Paola Cazares will take care of the librettos.

The settings in which most of the novel will take place will be located in the Colombian coffee region, more precisely in the departments of Caldas and Risaralda. In turn, some scenes will be shot in Bogota and New York.
“We are very happy with the start of the recordings of this production that identifies us as Colombians and that we all carry in our hearts,” said Laura Londoño, the protagonist of the story.
The 32-year-old actress, who has participated in productions such as ‘Without breast there is no heaven’, ‘The lord of the skies’, ‘El Capo 2’, ‘Rafael Orozco, the idol’, ‘The law of the heart’, among others, he also announced the start of recordings via an Instagram post.

As to how she will take on the role that Margarita Rosa de Francisco held in the 1990s, she said that “I’m the kind of person who always sees the glass as half full and I focus on the honor of being chosen for this project.”
There are also other talented figures on the production roster. Heartthrob William Levy has been in films such as “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” and soap operas such as “La Tempestad”, “Sortilegio”, “Triunfo del amor”, among others.
The actor said of the telenovela that “it is a project with a lot of Colombian flavor, I am happy to be part of it, as it is not only a well-known story in Colombia, but a great reference for television around the world”.

For her part, the actress Carmén Villalobos was very excited, because for the first time she will play an “evil” role.
