COD: Black Ops Cold War – A first impression

[ad_1]

Internet lines have been shining all over the world since last Friday, Activision servers seem to have been on the attack all day and the many curses are just disappearing from our lips. But just then, when the entire nation of gamers is suffering together, we know: it’s time for Call of Duty again!

For self-preservation reasons, I reduced my workload on eSports.ch to 80% at the beginning of the year and I still don’t regret it. Good current example? The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Publication. I had the luxury of relaxing on Friday morning so I could slip into my finches, warm up an Ovi, and enjoy the blizzard game launcher’s exceptionally decent download speeds.

A short time later, the good mood flew out the window and gave way to the typical grind COD: Damn camper! Man, that fucking grenade again! Can anyone take it away ?! Why did this guy force our gang for 5 minutes ?! I hate attack helicopters! WHAT IS THAT?! etc…

But it is these moments with friends that define Call of Duty Multiplayer. Of course, you often get angry and pretend you’re not having fun. But when the same pain happens to your friend, smile deeply again😁

We all know: COD is a lot of fun. But it also strains our nerves.

What has changed since the beta?

To be honest, not much. Alright then! Community feedback on the Cold War beta has been overwhelmingly positive, with much criticism of the maps, servers, and recording of the success.

Nice to see: with the release of Cold War these teething problems seem to have been solved! The recording of results is much better and more accurate than in the beta, although sometimes it is necessary to “hold” or “advance” to compensate for small delays. I’ve noticed this problem especially with sniper rifles, but their bullets also fly slower. So it could be that everything is working as it should and my perception is simply disturbed.😅

Now what happens to Modern Warfare?

We have already discovered the differences with Modern Warfare in the beta and the community seems to be happy with the two versions of the games. The current battle royale mode Warzone it should remain and be expanded with elements of the Cold War.

The question arises: then we have two MP5s too powerful in a COD title? The German machine gun has remained on the TTK throne in Modern Warfare for what feels like 10 months and the Cold War variant appears to be very popular in multiplayer mode as well. The following meme it is also appropriate at this time.

It remains to be seen how Activision balances it all for Warzone and whether we can actually be on the road with two MP5s😎

The German MP5 seems to be very popular even in the Cold War.

And what do the professionals say?

This time we let our Connections play and wanted to know from some more or less known COD personalities if and how the feel of the game has changed for them since the beta. I was lucky enough to have the same four players as the preview and asked you specifically where you see the differences from the beta and if your opinion of the game has changed.

  • The deutsche Content Creator thisKingPhil he thinks that not much has changed for him since the beta except the obvious things like new maps or new weapons. Also think about the map Crossroads it could be one of the best maps in Call of Duty history and that “Dark Matter” camouflage looks very, very sexy. He has fewer maps left for the modest number of maps at release, for comparison: Black Ops 2 had 15 good maps at launch, Cold War just 8. Where I also fully support Phil is in the claim that Miami is probably one of the worst maps in COD history. Overall, I can also understand why Black Ops Cold War feels like a “Head Glitch COD” for Phil. There are also a lot of stupid camper spots on good maps. He doesn’t even want to start talking about Skill Based Match Making (SBMM), which is a big brake on the fun for him, just like easily accessible killstreaks through points or drops. In general it is Cold War According to him it’s not a good COD, but it’s still a lot of fun with the right people and the right lobby (where not everyone plays for their life).
  • Our StreamTeam Representative and cod lovers TheNotoriousIsi Of course he also had his own opinion on the Cold War. Being a longtime Black Ops fan, he had been looking forward to the Cold War for the past few months, as he was slowly but surely slightly disgusted with the constant play of Modern Warfare. But he also has problems with certain things. For example, he feels that weapon leveling times are much higher than in beta, and all server and latency issues are very annoying to him. But there’s a big thumbs up including heart for the smooth movement, the rewarding feeling you get after a kill in the Cold War, and for the sound: not too loud, not too quiet, everything is great. All in all, yes Cold War Isi’s opinion is much better than Modern Warfare!
  • Our next opinion is of Thomas, is a Call of Duty player for the Esports organization Vertex team and says the following about the new Cold War: “The game looks much better than the beta, the movement also feels much smoother and more constant, and you no longer have to scroll through the cancellations, for example.” Overall, he just thinks the Cold War is hot. Like many people I’ve played with, Thomas is a huge BO1 fan and I believe Cold War looks more like Black Ops 1 for many cracks than Call of Duty, hence the joy of the game. He also likes the competition defaults (SnD CDL Rules) and new weapons, although some balancing is needed. What doesn’t leave Thomas with a “wow” effect are the maps. First he has to get used to them. Even the slow launch of explosive objects and the currently rather poor performance of the PC game. And even though he likes zombie mode, Thomas believes: this COD could become something competitive!
  • Last but not least, we have one of the strongest COD player of Switzerland, Clear the stage for Know, Player for the Esports organization Babos Gaming and competitor COD attached. Saber especially criticizes netcodes and servers: too many penetrations, too many delays, unsatisfactory for him. According to him, Treyarch could also have been more generous with the maps, for him there are too few maps for a full game. What he really likes are business card challenges and camouflages like diamond or dark matter, even if leveling is too long a tick for him. For him, there’s definitely an old COD feeling when he plays, and the possibility that you can just play a round of zombies after kicking the SBMM is an added bonus for Saber. No Alt + F4 on another game but just by changing the mode, it works great.

So it looks like Treyarch may have convinced us with his cool artwork. At the moment I spend almost more time in zombie mode than in multiplayer, but I’m sure of it – see you soon in Nuketown!
