Doctors took samples to detect E. coli bacteria, but also to determine the level of enterococci, bacteria found in the intestines of humans and animals. Both cause severe urinary and digestive tract infections, meningitis, and even sepsis.
At the opposite pole, the cleanest water is found in the northern part of the Mamaia resort.
