Challenge League Friday – GC consolidates the top of the standings – Xamax in free fall – sport

In mid-October GC received a 2-5 swatter in Kriens. Less than 2 months later, the people of Zurich returned the favor. In Letzigrund, the Challenge League leader won 2-0 against Central Switzerland.

Swiss U21 international Petar Pusic gave the “Hoppers” the lead after 35 minutes with a penalty, Giotto Morandi brace in the 79th minute. Thanks to the victory, GC took the lead over Lausanne-Ouchy, second in the standings, to 4 points.

Next failure for Xamax

Neuchâtel Xamax is still in free fall. The relegation defeated Aarau 2-4 at home and suffered their fifth consecutive defeat. Neuchâtel is next to bottom in the standings.

Marco Aratore and Filip Stojilkovic led Aarau on the road to victory in the first half hour. Xamax came to the next hit twice. But more was not possible for the Romans.

The match between Lausanne-Ouchy and Wil, also scheduled for Friday, was canceled due to heavy snow. The match will be rescheduled for December 22nd.
