Cazzie David said she ran away from a nightclub crying after one of Ariana Grande’s songs arrived in 2018.

At the time, the 26-year-old writer was celebrating her sister Romy David’s graduation in Washington DC

It had only been a few days since Pete Davidson, her boyfriend of over two years, had broken up with her via text message and immediately moved in with the “Side to Side” singer.

“Romy had planned with his friends months before celebrating graduation later that night with all of their siblings,” Cazzie wrote in “Erase Me”, one of the essays in her collection “No One Asked For This”, which is was released on Tuesday.

He continued: “He reported that it was imperative that I attend the festivities regardless of what was happening and my appearance.”

Cazzie, who described her state as an “intense level of distress,” recalls trying to “beg and go back to the hotel” when Romy and her friends started heading to the nightclub.

“They insisted that I stay out with them and since I didn’t have the gang to agree or disagree, I followed, clinging to whoever was closest to me regardless of whether I knew them or not,” he wrote.

When the group arrived on site, Cazzie said the experience quickly went downhill.

“After about four minutes at the club, one of his songs started playing and I ran out hyperventilating and got into a cab,” she said, referring to Grande.

Cazzie added: “On the way back to the hotel, my manager sent me a message reminding me not to tell anyone about what was happening or could end up on the Internet.”

Since Davidson was in a very public relationship with one of the most famous people in the show, it was nearly impossible for Cazzie to avoid her.

“I had no choice but to come to terms with the fact that they were now in a relationship. Even if it wasn’t a regular relationship or even a regular celebrity relationship. It was abnormally inevitable; everywhere and obsessed with everyone.” she wrote.

For example, on the plane for her family trip to South Africa, Cazzie asked her sister if she could join her in the vision of “Fifty Shades of Red” to take her mind off Davidson.

“Don’t do that,” Romy recalled telling her, adding, “I think there is a song.”

After their whirlwind five-month romance and sudden engagement, Davidson and Grande separated. And while Cazzie hasn’t rekindled with the “Saturday Night Live” comedian, they’ve become friends in the time since their breakup in 2018.

Cazzie recently told the Los Angeles Times that he showed Davidson the essay on him before publishing “Nobody Asked This”.

He also included a thank you message in the acknowledgments.

“Pete. I love you. Thanks for being encouraging when you shouldn’t have been. Your courage inspires me and your friendship means the world to me,” Cazzie wrote.
