The Castro Marim Chamber will strengthen its usual flu vaccination campaign and offer the vaccine to all residents aged 65 and over.

“Influenza vaccination will then be available free of charge, to risk groups (such as diabetics, heart and asthmatics) and / or residents aged 65 and over, in health centers, pharmacies and through the Mobile Health Unit (UMS ), which runs through the most isolated villages in the interior of Castro County, ”according to the Castro Marim Chamber.

“It is more important than ever to have all risk groups and the elderly, who are also the most vulnerable to Covid-19, vaccinated. In addition to strengthening our immune system against the flu virus, it will reduce hospitalizations for respiratory infections associated with the flu and decrease the influx of people to health facilities, freeing up more space and time for patients infected with Covid-19 “, underlines Francisco Amaral, mayor of Castro Marim.

The strengthening of this campaign, which takes place within the free National Vaccinations Program of the Ministry of Health, will take place through a protocol with the Dignitude Association.
