Campinas has 17 new cases of dengue and accumulates 3,918 infected throughout the year
The Campinas Department of Health updated the number of notifications of dengue cases in the city in the late afternoon of Saturday (07). According to Pasta, 3,918 cases of the disease have been recorded since the beginning of the year. This is an increase of 17 cases compared to the last bulletin, released on October 16. In April, one person died from the disease in the municipality.
According to the Department of Health, the Northwest and Southwest regions are and continue to be the ones with the highest number of disease reports in the municipality, with 1,079 and 1,061 infections respectively. The locations cover regions further from the Center, such as Campo Grande, Satellite Iris and Ouro Verde. The northern region (Barão Geraldo and Castelo) follows with 947 cases, and the east (Cambuí and Taquaral) with 496. The southern region (Vila Industrial and Jardim do Trevo) has 335 confirmations.
Contamination risk
The Department of Health also issued a new warning this Saturday with the ten districts at the highest risk of dengue transmission. They are: Santa Bárbara Park, Fazendinha Park, Jardim Andorinhas, Jambeiro Park, Vida Nova, DIC 3, DIC V de Março, Carlos Mariguela, Jardim Garcia and Vila Castelo Branco. The statement drew residents’ attention to the risk of the disease and the importance of eliminating breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
It is worth mentioning that Campinas has an Arbovirus Prevention and Control Committee that performs disease control and prevention. The Department of Health reminds, however, that the participation of the population is essential for the correct disposal of waste to avoid breeding places of the dengue mosquito, which in 80% of cases is found inside homes.
According to Pasta, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the technicians of the town hall continued to carry out visits and nebulizations. Between 1 January and 31 October this year, 594,566 properties were visited by health teams. In all, 176,323 locations in broadcasting areas were fogged up.
