British actor David Prowse, who became famous for playing the dark “Star Wars” character Darth Vader, is dead.

Prowse died at the age of 85, British BBC reported Sunday, citing agent Thomas Bowington. “May the Force be with him always,” Bowington said accordingly. Prowse died after a short illness.

Hero and monster

His stature, about two meters long, is said to have helped Prowse in his role as Darth Vader when the first “Star Wars” movie “Star Wars” was released in 1977. Darth Vader is on the dark side of power in the famous series of film and is the opponent of the hero Luke Skywalker.

“Even though he was famous for playing a lot of monsters – to me and everyone who knew and worked with Dave, he was a hero in our lives,” Bowington said, according to the BBC.
