Bright, short and ultra-sharp telephoto lens: Sigma 2.0 / 65mm DG DN

[ad_1]

Almost a year and a half ago, in the summer of 2019, Sigma launched the 2.8 / 45mm DG DN | Contemporary unveiled a compact fixed focal length for their then brand new and extremely compact full frame mirrorless Sigma Fp camera, as well as other L-mount cameras. The Sigma 2 / 65mm DG DN | now follows the same compact Contemporaneo design as well as two other lenses, see the report on 3.5 / 24mm and 2 / 35mm (cont.) and the comparison chart at the end of the article. With the ultra sharp Sigma 2 / 65mm DG DN | Contemporary from the new I-Series is a compact, short and noisy ultra-sharp Tele-Prime Sigma designed to offer mirrorless camera users a “breathtaking photographic experience”.

Like the other two innovations, the new 65mm is part of the new I-Series and the “Sigma I-Series”. This lens series consists of compact, beautifully designed, high-quality, high-performance optics for mirrorless camera systems. The Sigma 65mm lens for everyday use and combines excellent resolving power with a small lens housing perfectly weighted for mirrorless systems.

The new Sigma 2 / 65mm DG DN | short but extremely powerful Contemporary in the version with L-Mount and next to it the support for the lens cap CH-11, which is held magnetically on the lenses of the I series. ), weighs 405 g and uses filters with a Ø of 62 mm.

A 65mm lens is already used by photography enthusiasts and is also often used for shooting. At 65mm, it offers a slightly more compressed perspective than standard lenses and opens up a variety of creative approaches for both photography and film.

This 2 / 65mm DG DN | Contemporary should capture ultra-sharp details and fine details even when the aperture is fully open 1: 2 and also produce a large, round bokeh.

Plus, it’s fun to use and own this lens, with its pure metal housing, as found in every I-series lens, and with its design, designed with great care for the feel and even the sound quality of noises from operation.

Main features of the Sigma 2 / 65mm DG DN

The lens is part of the I series, which consists of “Premium Compact Prime” or high-quality compact fixed focal lengths for mirrorless cameras. The “Sigma I-Series” includes full format compatible lenses that provide mirrorless system users with new and better alternatives, both in terms of lens work experience and in terms of image results.

Mirrorless cameras have the advantage that they can be kept small and compact. This new 65mm lens is a perfect match for these compact systems without having to accept performance reductions. The combination of excellent optical quality and extraordinary mobility, which was previously not available in this form with DSLR systems, opens up new possibilities for current and future generations of photographers.

New optical performance standards for the Contemporary product line

The DG DN 2 / 65mm | Contemporary offers maximum optical performance with an aperture of 1: 2 per day with a compact lens body that is perfectly designed for mirrorless systems.

Longitudinal color errors, which occur more frequently with medium telephoto and telephoto lenses and cannot be corrected effectively with a camera, are corrected correctly through the use of SLD glass so that details can be recorded absolutely sharply. The use of two high precision molded aspherical glass lenses corrects spherical and comatic aberrations as well as astigmatism. At the same time, this allows you to keep the lens structure small. A combination of the most modern optical design with advanced processing technology completes this and helps the DG DN | 2 / 65mm Contemporary for its excellent optical performance and compact size.

Thanks to the successful control of spherical aberration, the lens offers beautiful bokeh, and the very low vignetting helps to contain lemon-shaped or swirling bokeh. This way, photographers have much better control over the blurry areas in their images when designing their subjects. Last but not least, Sigma’s standard anti-ghosting and anti-flare technology ensures high-end performance in backlight.

High quality workmanship and compact design

All I-series lenses have a pure metal construction. The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the tube a sleek, sleek finish, but also provide excellent durability which improves the quality of the entire product. Metallic materials are also used for the internal construction, which harmonize with the maneuvering rings and thus guarantee additional strength. These high-precision components, manufactured using Sigma’s latest metalworking technology and also integrated into the film lens range for professional filmmakers, offer exquisite feel and barely audible operating noises, so photographers will want to use them again and again. yet.

The cover ring between the focus and the aperture ring is made to fit exactly, as is the case in the production of the Art line rear cylinders. This cover provides a good grip when attaching or removing the lens.
