After October was dedicated to the October Pink campaign, in favor of the fight against breast and cervical cancer, the month of November focuses on the prevention of prostate cancer to raise awareness of male public opinion on the importance of preventive examination.

Like last month, the Acisc (Commercial and Industrial Association of São Carlos) is also dedicating support to the November Blue campaign and drawing men’s attention to the early diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The facade of the “Miguel Damha” Commerce Palace, headquarters of the entity, received a light in blue tones. “Once again Acisc fulfills its social role and tries to collaborate with awareness and information actions for the male public. For us, bringing information and guidance to people is very important, ”said the entity’s president, José Fernando Domingues.

Zelão recalls that prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in Brazil, behind only lung cancer. Data from the National Cancer Institute (Inca) estimates that the diagnosis numbers for this type of cancer are expected to exceed 65,000 this year in Brazil.

“Studies show that one in nine men will be diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime. About six out of ten cases are diagnosed in men over the age of 65, being rare before age 40. This is why early diagnosis of the disease is so important ”, underlined the president of Acisc.

Rapid diagnosis of the disease makes treatment effective. The more men are aware of the disease and how to diagnose and prevent it, the greater the chances of recovery and successful treatment. “That is why campaigns like this are so important,” concluded Zelão.
