Cybersecurity and Internet of Things company, WISeKey, uses digital and blockchain identities to help tourist destinations certify that travelers are not infected with Covid-19.

It has added the ability for users to digitally upload and certify their Covid-19 test results on its WIShelter platform.

WISeKey implements the Covid-19 WIShelter platform through a private public partnership with tourist destinations by installing the technology for free and sharing the revenue generated by travelers who normally pay a $ 100 fee to submit their documents online to receive a digital identity and entry digitally signed form.

According to WISeKey, its platform simplifies security clearance at border controls and simplifies the international entry process resulting in reduced risk and a better passenger experience, not only at airports but also at tourist destinations.

With WIShelter technology, international travelers can apply from mobile phones via Android or iOS apps or on the web and get their digitally signed entry clearance in “minutes,” says WISeKey. Via the app, travelers will receive a clear answer about their eligibility to travel in the form of a secure digitally signed barcode, also available as a wallet pass, which they can present at check-in and boarding.

For two decades, WISeKey has helped design and implement global standards for what it describes as the Internet’s “long-missing identity layer” of a decentralized, point-to-point exchange of information about people, organizations, or things. It enables and certifies it via blockchain and cryptographic Root of Trust. WISeKey technology, products and services can be used by individuals and organizations.

All health details are encrypted and linked to the user’s identity, represented by a digital certificate. Encrypting this data is important to protect users’ confidential information and ensure that users stay up to date with their healthcare credentials and complies with all privacy requirements, such as the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Using their digital identity protected by WISeKey, WIShelter users will be able to geo-locate other certified users and establish secure communications. If necessary, the app allows users to demonstrate to local authorities that they comply with the stay-at-home recommendations. To ensure data confidentiality, each user’s identifiable personal information is kept encrypted and never disclosed without their consent.
