Malcolm CasSelle (Malcolm Wesley Casselle), a blockchain technology and Bitcoin entrepreneur, has died at the age of 50 in Mexico.
“My younger brother, business partner, consultant and friend, Malcolm CasSelle, died yesterday in Mexico,” colleague E. David Ellington wrote on November 18, 2020 in a Facebook post. “Apparently, his friends said he had a stomach ache when he woke up. He took antibiotics. They returned six hours later to check on him and found him dead in his room (at their home). “
Malcolm CasSelle was the CEO of BIGtoken Inc., a data management platform that leverages blockchain technology to allow consumers to own, verify and sell their personal data. He was CIO of OPSkins, a video game skin exchange platform, and president of the Montreal-based Worldwide Asset Exchange (WAX), a marketplace for digital assets built on a blockchain.
BIGtoken began as a division of SRAX, Inc., a financial technology company that unlocks data and insights for publicly traded companies. CasSelle was also a board member of SRAX.
In August 2019, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a subpoena to video game virtual goods company OPSkins Group Inc. (operates as Worldwide Asset eXchange) in response to a complaint filed by Crypto Asset Fund, LLC and Digital Capital Management, LLC. The case is CASE NO.: 2: 19-cv-06983. CasSelle actively participated in the offering and sale of WAX tokens to investors, including Crypto Asset Fund, according to court statements. At one time, OPSkins claimed to be the largest platform in the world for video game virtual goods traders. In June 2018, OPSkins received a termination and suspension order from Valve, the developer of Steam, shortly after the Defendants’ launch of the WAX ExpressTrade.
