Belgium shoots England, Italy wins

The “Red Devils” are not giving the “Three Lions” a chance and are on their way to the next round of the Nations League. The Netherlands celebrate a first and Italy wins with confidence.

With a win against England in a duel between two World Cup semi-finalists, Belgium prepares for the Nations League final. Coach Roberto Martinez’s team defeated England 2-0 (2-0) and have been unbeaten in 24 home games since September 2016. The Three Lions therefore have no chance of winning the group.

Youri Tielemans (10th) and Dries Mertens (24th) scored in Leuven for the Belgians, where Dortmund trio Thomas Meunier, Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard were in the starting lineup. In England, BVB youth Jadon Sancho (20) took the field in the 70th minute, while club colleague Jude Bellingham (17) was not used this time.

Behind Belgium (12 points), Denmark (10) are in second place after a 2-1 (1-0) against relegated Iceland. On Wednesday in Leuven there will therefore be a direct duel for the victory in the group between Belgium and Denmark, with a draw for the hosts.

Holland ends the black strip

The Netherlands finally celebrated their maiden win under new manager Frank de Boer on the fifth attempt. Oranje defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1 (2-0) on the penultimate day of the Nations League and thus retained a chance to win in the group in season A1. The Bosnians around former Schalke Sead Kolasinac, on the other hand, are already relegated before the last match.

The best cards for the “Final Four” of October 2021, however, are Italy, which after the 2-0 (1-0) against Poland has one point more than the Netherlands. The decision will be made in Wednesday’s long-distance duel, when Oranje will compete in Poland and Italy in Bosnia.

Georginio Wijnaldum of England champions FC Liverpool ensured clear conditions in Amsterdam with a double strike in the first quarter of an hour (6th and 13th). Memphis Depay removed all doubts about success (55th). Smail Prevljak, who played for RB Leipzig in the 2nd division six years ago, has shrunk (63rd). De Boer, the successor to Ronald Koeman, who joined FC Barcelona in September, was the first manager in Elftal’s history not to win his first four games. For Italy, Jorginho scored a penalty (27th) and Domenico Berardi (83rd).

First defeat for Russia

Scotland missed their second coup in four days. After the famous qualification for next year’s European Championship, the Bravehearts lost to Slovakia with 0: 1 (0: 1). If they won, the Scots would not have been able to get promoted to the A-League.

Jan Gregus (31st) scored the goal of the day in Trnava. A win on Wednesday in Israel would still be enough to advance the Scots, coached by Steve Clark. One point behind the Scots is the Czech Republic in second place, in the 1-0 (1-0) against Israel, scored by Hertha BSC’s Vladimir Darida (7th).

Thanks to Kenan Karaman of second division Fortuna Düsseldorf, Turkey achieved their first victory in Class B. In 3: 2 (2: 1) over previously unbeaten Russia, the 26-year-old scored 1: 1 (26th), the goal of 3: 1 was scored by former Frankfurt Cenk Tosun with a penalty (52 °).
