Beam, the secret coin that implements the MimbleWimble protocol, announced through his Twitter account his team found a "critical vulnerability" in the Beam Wallet. For Beam CTO, Alex Romanov, in the Beam community chat, the vulnerability has no effect on "portfolio data, secret keys or passwords". The vulnerability was discovered for the first time by the Beam development team and concerns previously released Beam portfolios.

Critical vulnerability was found today on Beam Wallet.
The vulnerability was discovered by Beam Dev Team and not reported elsewhere.
The vulnerability affects all Beam Wallets previously released both Dekstop and CLI.

The Beam team recommends users to do the following:
- Stop running their wallets.
- Uninstall or delete their wallet application and run from all machines.
- Make sure the application has been deleted.
- Download again and reinstall the updated version of Beam Wallet from the Beam website.
The Beam team will publish an appropriate update, providing more details about the vulnerability in the coming days. Beam was officially launched on January 3, 2019, becoming the first cryptocurrency to implement the privacy protocol, MimbleWimble.
