MANAMA, December 4 (Xinhua) – The Bahraini health supervisory authority announced Friday that it has authorized emergency use of Pfizer / BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine.
“Bahrain has approved emergency use of Pfizer / BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine, which will be used for at-risk groups,” said the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
This decision follows an intensive study conducted on the basis of the vaccine’s health and efficacy results.
“Pfizer / BioNTech’s approval of the vaccine will add an important layer to the kingdom’s national response to COVID-19, a response that has been marked with a high priority of protecting the health of its citizens and residents during the pandemic.” , said NHRA executive director Mariam Al Jalahma.
For his part, Pfizer group chief for the Gulf region, Lindsey Dietschi, said this emergency clearance from Bahrain marked a historic step in the fight against COVID-19.
“This authorization is the goal we have been working towards since we declared science would win,” he added.
