The “Baby Shark” nursery rhyme is a hit.
-
On Youtube it surpassed 7 billion clicks at the beginning of the week.
-
This makes the song the most viewed video on Youtube.

The producers of “Baby Shark” make a fortune.
A simple melody, “Doo doo doo doo doo doo” as lyrics, children dancing, cartoon animations – these are the ingredients in the video of the children’s song “Baby Shark”. And it works. The South Korean song is skyrocketing and has been the most viewed video on Youtube since the beginning of the week. It has reached the magical milestone of 7 billion clicks on the video platform.
The nursery rhyme beats the greats in the world of music. For a long time, Puerto Rican pop star Luis Fonsi’s hit “Despacito” was the most successful clip on YouTube. It currently has 7.04 billion clicks. “Baby Shark” is now better with 7.05 billion.
Behind the children’s song is the South Korean family business Smartstudy, founded in 2010, which develops educational videos for children. Co-founder and CEO is 38-year-old game developer Kim Min-seok. Five years later he launched the Pinkfong brand, with which the entrepreneur also launched the “Pinkfong! Kids’ Songs & Stories »on which the song was released. The channel has over 40 million subscribers.
According to the South China Morning Post, the family fortune has reached around $ 125 million. Much of this should come from nursery rhyme income. The song “Gangnam Style” by South Korean rapper Psy has already proven that you can make a lot of money with a YouTube hit (see box).
Here’s how the babies dance to “Baby Shark” throughout the length of the video:
“Baby Shark” did not become an overnight success. It was released on Youtube in 2016. It became increasingly popular only two years later. In early 2019, the song climbed to number 32 on the US charts. Meanwhile, the catchy tune is sung everywhere, so that American talker Jimmy Kimmel winked at the song’s creators to be blocked.
“Gangnam Style” by South Korean rapper Psy was the first YouTube video that reached over a billion clicks in 2012. The previous ad clips also generated high advertising revenue. In early 2013, the video is said to have grossed over $ 8 million. The song has currently generated more than 3.8 billion clicks on YouTube. Revenues are therefore likely to stabilize in recent years corresponding have increased further. Youtube owner Google makes money from ads on his video portal and transfers part of the income to the artist.
