ATP Finals in London – Rublew against demotivated Thiem with easy play – sports

• Andrej Rublew (ATP 8) wins his last match at the ATP Finals against Dominic Thiem (ATP 3) 6: 2, 7: 5.
• Thiem, who had already been confirmed semifinalist, did not play with the ultimate consequence.

Had there been a spectator in the London arena, Dominic Thiem could have been accused of acting too relaxed and unmotivated in the first set of his last group match against Andrei Rublew.

Why should a show be offered even for otherwise expensive tickets. But as is known, spectators are not allowed to participate in the ATP finals and Thiem had secured his ticket to the semi-final before the match. Therefore, the defeat in 2 sets in the end no longer played any role.

However, the 27-year-old was far from his best form and received the decisive break with a score of 5: 5. Rublew deservedly decided the match 6: 2, 7: 5 after 74 minutes.

In the evening (from 9 pm) Rafael Nadal (ATP 2) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 6) will fight for a place in the semifinals. On Friday afternoon (3 pm) the Tokyo group will fight for the last semifinal ticket in a duel between Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev.
