One of the main versions of the new console generation was the latest installment in the Ubisoft Assassins saga. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla convinced with its approach, having recorded an important sales record. The next generation version comes with improvements, but as has been speculated, the game’s performance doesn’t seem to be optimal on Xbox. And Digital Foundry wanted to expose this aspect in a new video where Compare Assassin’s Creed Valhalla performance between Xbox Series X | S. and Playstation 5.

Throughout the video we can witness all the nuances that Digital Foundry usually offers around games. Now, they are very much involved in seeing what games that come improved are capable of giving to the new generation of consoles, and for that reason, they have been quite demanding with what this game really offers on these consoles.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Review – Xbox Series X | S.

Thanks to this video of the medium specialized in the technical analysis of games, they compare the rAssassin’s Creed Valhalla performance between Xbox Series X | S. and Playstation 5. And among the first problems solved are those improvements that regulate the visual quality of the game on the next generation consoles. It can already be seen that the game is very demanding on PC, being a 4K resolution and a visual setting in Ultra. But in the case of consoles, there are no differences in this setting in case someone wants to see higher quality in one or the other.

Both reference hardware selected a visual environment with a high level of detail, with the same drawing distance, shadow quality, texture and effects. In the case of the Xbox Series S, this setting is slightly lowered in some aspects, besides the resolution itself, such as shadows. Another aspect that changes with respect to these two categories between consoles, is the resolution. In all cases a dynamic resolution is used, which would reach 4K on Xbox Series X and Playstation 5, being reduced to aa Minimum 1440p in both cases. The truth is that from the center they point to that resolution as a possible reference to that none of them would reach stable. In Xbox Series S, the resolution is also dynamic, but its limit is set to 1440p, with a minimum of 1180p.

The aspect that most disappointed the members of Digital Foundry is that the Xbox Series S it hasn’t maintained that maximum resolution any better, as its performance goal is 30fps and not 60fps like Xbox Series X and Playstation 5. But in general, this resolution reduction and minor graphics tweaks offer a much more stable version than that of the more powerful consoles. And is that the performance of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the most critical point. The game, without reaching 4K, does not remain stable at 60fps in the case of the Xbox Series X, making it much better on the Playstation 5. At certain times the frame rate of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla drops below 50 fps and remains far from its optimal value for a long time.

This might be logical when we were talking about the Xbox One X and Playstation 4 Pro, because normally the visual adjustment of the Xbox One X was superior. Now that Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 have the same setup, it doesn’t seem logical to think that more powerful hardware will perform worse. And it’s not a matter of priorities, it’s statistics. So Ubisoft will have to do it keep working to find the cause of this conflict on the Xbox Series X version. so that its performance is thus impaired.
