The news that 10 volunteers from Crete traveled to Thessaloniki to strengthen the health system made its way around Greece. One of the volunteers who was admitted to the Hippocratic Hospital is Artemis Nikiforou. The 25-year-old from Rethymno is a weightlifting athlete and has even participated in two women’s finals.
APE-MPE contacted the Arkadi Rethymno club athlete and explained how she decided to leave the plates and bars to go to Thessaloniki. A commendable move that was “applauded” by the whole family of the sport of the strong.

“I wanted to help the nursing staff who are battling the virus these days. I love my profession, I love volunteering and certainly my neighbor. This season, I think no one can remain outsiders,” Artemis Nikiforou initially told APE – MPE , who did not hide his worries and fears.

Artemis Nikiforou also referred to the fact that he can no longer train in weightlifting. Something she misses a lot: “I miss her a lot.
