Apple’s new processors show that the move to ARM was inspired

Apple appears to have pulled out the winning lottery again. The new Apple Silicon M1 processors that the new MacBook Air is equipped with beats the Intel Core i9 processors that the MacBook Pro models were equipped with.

In tests, the M1 processors scored 1,687 points in single-core mode and 7,433 points in multi-core mode.

For comparison, the MacBook Pro’s Intel Core i9 processor only scored 1,096 points in single-core mode and 6,870 points in multi-core mode.

Test data shows that the M1 is faster than any processor ever made by Apple for the iPhone or iPad.

The Apple Silicon M1 processor will equip all new Mac models: MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini. The only difference is that the MacBook Pro and Mac mini will have a processor fan, while the MacBook Air will have passive cooling.

Apple switched to ARM processors after Intel’s new Skylake processors proved to have many quality issues, but also because Intel processor performance has been limited in recent years.
