The iPad Pro was, until recently, an unparalleled tablet in its segment. But the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 +, which I had the opportunity to test, matched the chart and Apple will have to work even more on an upcoming release.
iPad Pro with OLED will arrive in 2021
Although Apple is on another level when it comes to the processor, the current iPad Pro has a “only” LCD screen. And although it is of great quality and at 120Hz, the Cupertino company will also plan a model with an OLED panel for the second half of next year.
This information is put forward by the South Korean website TheElec, which confirms that Apple will also launch iPad with mini-LED technology during the first half of next year. OLED panels, on the other hand, will be saved for the higher-end models.
Apparently, these devices will have panels made by Samsung and LG. And Samsung Display will have already revamped the production line at one of the factories in South Korea for the future iPad Pro.
Burn in is the most common defect in OLED panels. A kind of “ghost image” that is flagged if still images are kept for a long time. And Apple wants to ensure that high quality standards are maintained to prevent this from happening.
Another detail that should arrive in the iPad Pro 2021 is the support for 5G. And it’s plausible that a significant leap is being made in its processor as well, at a time when the A14 (from the iPad Air) isn’t far behind the A12Z from the latest iPad Pro.
