Apple develops its own search engine and reduces its “addiction” to Google: Gadget.ro – Hi-Tech Lifestyle

Google is under scrutiny in the United States by the United States Department of Justice for its monopoly policy on the search engine market. One of the agreements taken for example is the one concluded between Google and Apple which brings the search engine to the Safari browser by default.

And let’s not talk about any amount, 2 years ago we were talking about 12 billion dollars / year (in the UK alone in 2019 it would be 1.5 billion dollars / year).

Apple would be aware of Google’s ungrateful position and is preparing its own search engine.

According to the Financial Times, Apple has hired a number of people in the web search segment, some of them with experience gained at Google. In iOS 14 they changed the way search works, the first result being provided by Apple and the rest by Google (honestly, I haven’t noticed any changes).

I put to depend in quotes because I’m sure he would like to keep the status quo now ($ 12 billion / year = significant amount for Apple too). If they suddenly quit Google, I’m sure they wouldn’t generate a similar amount through their search engine.

On the other hand, Google has no real rival in the web search segment. Just as Microsoft doesn’t really compete with anyone on desktop PCs and notebook operating systems and the examples might go further. What is preparing against Google seems late to me and this is because I do not see who could resist. Apple has something to learn in this niche, Microsoft has also tried Bing and I would say that even now they haven’t come out who knows what.
