A moving image released this weekend shows Diego Maradona hugging himself whom he considered his younger brother, who was part of the Italian family that welcomed the Argentine star during his splendid stay in Naples.
Massimo Vignati and Maradona became inseparable when “Pelusa” hired the young man’s mother, Lucia, to take care of the house and cook. The Argentine star even called her Mama Lucia, according to Mirror.
In the photo you can see Diego hugging Massimo and his wife Claudia.
Massimo, now 46, recalls that Maradona moved to the city when he was 10 and left seven years later. The whole family had done it a close relationship with the Argentine at that time.
His sister was the babysitter for Maradona’s children and his cousin did the cleaning. For his part, his late father, Saverio, worked at the San Paolo for more than three decades.
The man, who now runs a football star museum in his home near Naples, fondly remembers the idol after his passing. “He taught me so many things,” he commented and said that even though the ‘Ten’ had his own personal problems, he never hurt anyone.
