AMD Hangar 21 combines FidelityFX and Ray Tracing effects in a new demo

AMD just released a new video demonstration of the technology AMD Hangar 21, which showcases the technology of the new RDNA 2-based RNAon RX 6000 GPUs.

The demo of this new technology provides an overview of the techniques used by AMD, and while most have been common in gaming for some time, others are surprising.

Well, what we already know are dynamic area lights, volumetric lights, real-time global illumination, physics-based material and shader, volumetric fog, divine rays, and depth of field.

But, after all, what is so special about technology AMD Hangar 21? The answer is AMD FidelityFX and Ray Tracing effects, which use techniques found in DirectX 12 Ultimate.

These two effects are combined to ensure the best possible performance. For example, FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion (CACAO) works with Ray Tracing’s Ambient Occlusion to detail ambient shadows.

FidelityFX Stochastic Screen Space Reflections (SSSR) combines with Ray Tracing reflections. In addition, there is also the new Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), which arrived in the game Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC, and can be activated together with the Temporal Anti-Aliasing for greater clarity of the final image.

In addition to these new features offered by AMD Hangar 21, we will also see new effects for the suite, Variable Rate Shading, Denoiser and Parallel Sort.
