Whatsapp always introduces new features for its messenger. Several features were launched in the app in 2020. Annoying groups have been eliminated since spring. Group chats can now be turned off for “forever”. And now it should be even easier to keep your storage free. Why: Swapping vacation videos, sending voice messages to your loved one, and sending snapshots after a party can drain your phone’s storage space. With active users, the data within Whatsapp quickly accumulates in the gigabyte range. This is a problem for devices with low storage space.
Messenger developers want to help people whose cell phones get trashed. Now you can more easily free up space on your device. The feature will arrive on phones around the world in the next few days. The feature was announced last August. With the Manage Storage function (German memory management) you can immediately recognize the memory pigs. On the one hand, there is a display of the forwarded content which can be deleted. There is also a selection of large files such as videos. The messenger also disrupts chats where the most massive mountains of data have accumulated. All content can then be deleted directly via memory management.
New self-destruct mode
In order to keep up with competitors such as Signal, Telegram and Co., Whatsapp has now officially announced another function. With messages running, users can create chats in the future, which are destroyed after a certain time. As soon as the setting is active, new messages will disappear from the chat history after seven days.
The selection applies to new messages in the chat. Previously received or sent messages are not affected. At the same time, Whatsapp warns you that you should only send running messages to people you trust. Because expiring messages can be forwarded before they disappear. Or users can take a screenshot to save it, write Whatsapp. It is not yet clear when the feature will be introduced for users.
If you sign up for the digital push, you will be informed about news and rumors from the world of Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, Samsung, Apple and Co. You will also be the first to receive alerts on viruses, trojans, phishing attacks and ransomware. There are also tricks for getting more out of your digital devices.
Here’s how it works: Install the latest version of the app for 20 minutes. At the bottom right, tap “Cockpit”, then “Settings” and finally “Push notifications”. At the point “Topics” touch “Digital” – et voilà!
