Agriculture: Eating the tail, head and skin of poultry is not dangerous to health for these reasons

An official report released by the Ministry of Agriculture, represented by the Animal Health Institute, confirmed that the ministry examines birds prior to slaughter to ensure the safety of live birds and detection in poultry slaughterhouses, explaining that poultry diseases affecting parts of poultry such as tail, skin, chicken head and lung are rarely transmitted to humans when they die from treatment Heat and good cooking during the cooking process, despite the inadequacy of poultry parts for the consumption pattern of the Egyptians, and these parts are not considered a threat to public health and food safety under these controls.

The report, of which Al-Masry Al-Youm obtained a copy, indicated that the Reference Laboratory for Veterinary Control of Poultry Production at the Animal Health Research Institute is fully prepared and ready to provide technical, advisory and awareness and controls for the safety of the Egyptian citizen and to provide safe and healthy food.
The report added that the Ministry of Agriculture secures food before slaughter, represented by the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Animal Health Research Institute, and through this, the institute follows poultry farms to implement the HCCP and ISO food safety requirements, which require examination of poultry meat for the remains of antibiotics, hormones and pesticides.

The report pointed out that common diseases that are transmitted from chickens to humans are the most important of which are avian flu and food poisoning microbes such as salmonella and campylobacter, which infect all live birds, and it is rare that infection occurs from slaughtered birds and heat treatment kills these microbes.

The report of the Institute of Animal Health indicated that with regard to chicken skin and as a consequence of the presence of a large percentage of fat in the skin, and therefore contains a percentage of harmful residues such as remains of antibiotics, medicines and pesticides and often it is not recommended to eat the skin, but there are no toxins in the skin that directly cause any type of cancer. This speech is scientifically inaccurate and these remains are examined before allowing the circulation of this poultry to guarantee food for the Egyptian citizen.

The report points out that there is no indication in Egypt that chickens are injected with any type of hormones, according to tests done at the Animal Health Research Institute’s Poultry Reference Laboratory, noting that major companies are examining their products through slaughterhouses and the reference laboratory to ensure product safety.
