AC / DC praise Stevie Young for succeeding Malcolm Young

AC / DC jointly announced how pleased they are with Stevie Young as a new member of the band. He was a worthy successor to his uncle Malcolm Young.

In September 2014, Stevie joined the band and replaced Malcolm, who could no longer play in the band due to health reasons and died three years after leaving.

Singer Brian Johnson thinks Stevie Young is continuing his uncle’s tradition as a rhythm guitarist. “We don’t want to go back,” he told UCR, “and Stevie’s contribution is to keep that level exactly where Angus and Malcolm have always wanted.”

Angus Young and Johnson also added that they see Stevie’s contribution less as a development and more as a continuation of what AC / DC has always been. “We’re probably just trying to work together to get a good rock song,” says Angus.

In the process of creating new music, the band then regularly asks: “Are these elements what I think AC / DC are?” The main thing is to stay true to yourself, says the guitarist. “I don’t think we’ll develop further, we’re probably spinning like a turntable!”

On Friday the new AC / DC album “Power Up” will be released. Stevie also plays some guitar parts written by her uncle Malcolm.
