However, Stanton stressed the need to follow infection prevention measures, including frequent hand washing and social distancing.
The research team is conducting clinical trials on the subject and the results are expected in early 2021.
And in September, a team from the American University of Pennsylvania conducted similar research, concluding that some mouthwash products were effective in inactivating the Corona virus in the mouth.
The study team’s supervisor, Professor Craig Myers, said that “while we wait to develop a vaccine (for Corona), we need methods that reduce the spread of the infection.”
“The products we reviewed are readily available and are often part of people’s daily routine,” he added.
The study also indicated the effectiveness of killing the virus demonstrated by the baby shampoo solution, which doctors use to rinse the sinuses in some cases.
