About 30 million men in the United States alone have experienced some form of ED, most notably erectile dysfunction, at some point.
A recent study published by the medical site “Healthline” states that erectile dysfunction has forms, the most obvious of which is erectile dysfunction or maintenance, and that a decrease in sexual desire is also classified as a case of impotence.
ED is an emotional or physical problem or a combination of both. Physical causes of erectile dysfunction are more common in older men, but for younger men, emotional problems are usually the cause of impotence. Additionally, this condition may be associated with certain diseases or health conditions that prevent blood flow to the penis, such as high blood pressure, hormonal disorders, depression and diabetes.
Obesity and sexual dysfunction
Obesity increases the risk of developing a number of diseases, including impotence, especially since overweight men have a higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, and atherosclerosis, all of which are conditions that can cause ED on their own.
Hence, losing weight is one of the best ways to treat ED, especially if the condition is related to erectile dysfunction. And the health site claims that more than 30% of the men who participated in the study were able to restore sexual function naturally after losing weight. The study indicated that the plan was not limited to diet alone, while it aimed at treating infections that turned out to be a cause that affects men’s sexual health.
According to the site, the study authors did not resort to drugs or surgery to lose weight, while the men who participated in the study reduced their average daily calorie intake by just 300 calories and increased their weekly physical activity.
