The Cairo Foundation for Development and Law has published a research paper on reproductive and sexual health services for women after childbearing age, under the slogan “# Health_ Her Right” and “#Safety_Menopause”, as part of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women in order to support women’s rights to access the best possible sexual health services within the framework of international standards in order to reject violence against women, gender equality and strive to make them economically and socially responsible, as the Cairo Foundation is one of the civil society institutions that deals with providing legal services to women.
The document indicated that Egypt is among the countries in the world that aims to reduce the number of population, so it is among the most important countries developing strategic plans to provide reproductive health services aimed at reducing fertility rates. One of the most important sectors of the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt is the family planning sector, which is the source of the government. The first to provide contraceptive services and methods, in family planning clinics in basic care units throughout the Republic, and plays a vital role in providing technical support and overseeing all family planning programs and clinics in the government sector, to guarantee the provision of safe, effective and economical services. Receiving praise and applause from target communities Despite this concern for reproductive health, there is a total disregard for sexual health, the study showed, in addition to family planning program services provided only to women and girls aged 15 to 49 years plus the fact that sexual health information is not available in a way that helps improve the condition of women. There is information that helps girls learn about their bodies and the changes that come with it as they develop with age also impair their ability to understand their orientations, sexual orientation and even cope with them. Here according to scientific concepts that protect and preserve their humanity and their right of choice.
The study also monitored the exposure of women of safe age (menopause – the period of menopause) to psychological violence, bullying after menopause, starting with the speech directed at them with the title (menopause) to the state of almost total abandoning their medical care needs related to their long-distance sexual health. Menopause, as monitored by the research document, in addition to the absence of medical personnel in the health units that provide the family planning program to deal with such cases, so society in all walks of life, including at the medical level, begins to use the term menopause, which implies the declaration of the end of the role of women in society, centered on their ability to have children and thus declaring them decayed in society, followed by the absence of services related to their sexual health and the changes that accompany menopause, and due physical and psychological care for women. This is according to the findings of the study on women.
The study recommended that in light of society’s great need to stop gender-based violence and seek gender equality in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, it is necessary to work on a set of criteria that can contribute to the achievement of the goals. development, including the need for the state to recognize the right of girls and boys to receive information scientifically and securely about their sexual rights and working to provide a safe environment within schools to receive information relating to sexual health. And train medical service providers on sexual rights and increase their skills and abilities to do so, as well as provide services related to sexual health along with services related to reproductive health within the centers of the family planning sector of the Ministry of Health and the Population. 5 Include postmenopausal sexual health services in the family planning sector of the Ministry of Health and Population.
