Every day a new one is added to the deadly side effects caused by the corona virus, which is infected by approximately 45 million people worldwide. Scientists from the University of Cambridge in England have revealed that one in 100 people hospitalized due to Kovid-19 suffered a stroke due to blood clots and cytokine storms caused by the virus.
According to the news reported by NTV, scientists from the Stroke Research Group at the University of Cambridge in England analyzed 61 global studies covering over 100,000 patients to understand the relationship between Covid-19 and stroke.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE FELTED IN THE WORLD DUE TO COVID-19
The results of the study published in the scientific journal Journal of Stroke revealed that 14 out of a thousand people hospitalized due to corona virus were paralyzed.
Hugh Markus, author of the study, said this means that thousands of people diagnosed with Kovid-19 around the world could be paralyzed. The researchers said patients who were paralyzed due to Kovid-19 were twice as likely to die as paralyzed patients who were not carriers of the virus.
Markus, “The data shows that the stroke rate is 0.014. This reveals that at least one in 100 people admitted to the hospital has suffered a stroke from Kovid-19 ” used expressions.
SEE THE MOST COMMON “ACUTE HISTEMIC SHOT”
The researchers explained that the most common type of stroke due to the new type of corona virus is acute ischemic stroke. Stroke, the second leading cause of death worldwide after heart disease, is caused by reduced blood flow to the brain due to occlusion of blood clots or rupture of the blood vessel. When an acute ischemic stroke occurs, the affected brain cells die.
AGE AND CHRONIC DISEASES INCREASE THE RISK
However, the scientists noted that the risk of having a stroke increases with the presence of underlying health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. Furthermore, the incidence of stroke has been reported to increase with increasing age. However, the researchers said that although rare, paralysis was seen in young people with Kovid-19 and in those who had no health problems before.
BEWARE OF ASYMPTOMATIC CASES
On the other hand, the researchers found that strokes typically occur a few days after infection and affect those who never show coronavirus symptoms. A warning was given about the frequency of paralysis in asymptomatic cases.
The researchers who conducted the study, therefore, said that all patients admitted to the hospital for stroke should be tested for Kovid-19 without showing symptoms.
DOUBLE THE RISK OF DEATH IN FELCINO CAUSED BY COVID-19
On the other hand, experts said that the risk of stroke does not discriminate between the sexes, but patients with paralysis with Kovid-19 have twice the risk of death compared to stroke patients who do not have the virus.
It was announced that the death rate for those who have had a stroke due to Kovid-19 was 31.5%. On the other hand, it was seen that the death rate was 12% in stroke patients without Kovid-19.
Scientists are continuing their research to clearly explain why Kovid-19 causes paralysis. However, it is commonly seen that blood clotting and cytokine storm caused by coronavirus are the main causes.
