Prairie Mountain RCMP responded to the fatal fire at the weekend.

On December 9, at 12:45, RCMP Prairie Mountain received a report of a fire about 10 km north of Inglis, in the Riding Mountain West district.

Firefighters and volunteers arrived at the scene and identified two male residents, aged 74 to 43, who had left the home safely. Emergency personnel were informed that a 29-year-old male was not present and was believed to be in the garage, which was completely engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, a search for the garage was carried out by the fire commissioner's office and the body of the 29-year-old male was located.

Fire and death seem to be non-criminal in nature.

The RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
