Dr Adel Al-Atribi, Professor of Cardiology at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Medicine, revealed in a special statement to “The Seventh Day” that heart patients are more susceptible to infection with the Corona virus. adding that the scientists found that the Corona virus attacks the heart muscle and also concluded that the virus affects the membranes surrounding the heart, which is the pericardial membrane, and also causes lung clots, and this is the reason behind the increase of deaths of heart patients due to the virus.

And he said, some Corona patients have been shown to develop clots without narrowing their arteries, so we advise heart patients to follow precautionary measures and rest fully and use liquid medications when needed.

Dr Adel Al-Atribi warned against the casual use of clot solvents in the treatment of patients with Corona virus, as well as cortisone drugs such as “the drug dexamethasone”, explaining that the Corona virus leads to clots in the lungs, which causes many deaths, so thrombolytics should be used with caution with the advice of a pathologist. Cardiac, in low doses, is only given in hospital because habitual use causes problems for the patient.

He added that cortisone should be used within the strictest limits, and when a Corona patient develops shortness of breath, or severe complications from the Corona virus, it is not used in simple cases of Corona.

And he warned against certain medicines used to treat heart disease and cause problems in lung patients, and vice versa, including very vital heart drugs to treat heart rhythm, patients with enlarged heart muscle and their effect on the lung and vice versa, Pulmonary drugs such as bronchodilators have a negative effect on the heart.
