A new song by pop singer Britney Spears (“… Baby One More Time”) for her 39th birthday on December 2: “Swimming In The Stars” is an unreleased song taken from the recordings of her ninth studio album, which is was released in 2016 “Gloria,” US music label RCA Records (local time) said Tuesday. It is the singer’s first new piece of music in four years.
The publication is viewed critically by some fans because they suspect that Spears’ father James Parnell Spears is behind it. The song was announced in mid-November, shortly after a Spears court hearing, which discussed her father’s guardianship. The singer seeks to end this legal support, which has existed since 2008, in court. So far, however, Spears has failed.
Spears’ attorney Samuel D. Ingham said at the time, according to US media, she was afraid of him and would not perform until her father had control of his career and assets. Under the hashtag #FreeBritney, fans have been supporting the musician on social networks since last year. “More like swimming in abuse … Support Britney’s people,” wrote one user on Twitter – obviously referring to the title of the song “Swimming In The Stars”.
