The FIA rules on Grosjean’s violent accident
The FIA has tightened security measures at Romain Grosjean’s crash site. The barrier that was destroyed in the accident has been rebuilt for this weekend, but there are now additional piles of tires in front of the barrier so that something like last Sunday doesn’t happen again.
Other changes have also been made to the route. In turn 9, for example, a curb was removed because they feared that cars might take off there. There, too, the tire stacks have been lengthened. We want to take a closer look at the new layout this weekend.

About Russell …
In this video, our British colleagues once discussed whether the Brit had a serious chance of winning the race this weekend. Personally, I wouldn’t rule it out, however. A bit like Max Verstappen in Barcelona in 2016 …
George Russell: Can he win in Bahrain? (EN)
Corona virus has struck: Lewis Hamilton is out of the Sachir Grand Prix and is replaced by Williams driver George Russell More Formula 1 videos
Russell: This is THAT
The Brit will have to be prepared for some innovations this weekend. At Mercedes, of course, he has a completely different crew, a different car – and THAT. Nice to see how you briefly explain to Russell in this video how exactly the system is installed in the Mercedes W11.
Sainz: Not a typical Formula 1 track
Based on the expected lap times, it is already clear that the alternative layout in Bahrain is not a typical Formula 1 track. Carlos Sainz says the same. The McLaren driver explains: “We don’t actually drive on tracks that consist mainly of long straights and only a few corners. It will be interesting to see how this affects the Formula 1 cars.” Therefore, you will be driving in a different set-up than in the previous week.
Renault confirms Alonso’s test
However it wasn’t a big secret, now it’s official. Fernando Alonso will test the current Renault on 15 December in Abu Dhabi. There is also the Renault Junior Guanyu Zhou. The decision to put the two-time world champion in the car is not entirely undisputed …
Fastest laps in history so far …
… we put together once in this series of photos. As I said: we expect a new record this weekend!
Weekend program
The race will take place again in Bahrain, but the schedule will change this weekend. This time there is a “real” night race. Therefore, as already mentioned, the PK driver starts today a little later than the previous week. Here’s a look at the rest of the weekend. All information in our CET:

18:30: FT2
Saturday:
15:00: FT3
18:00: qualifying

Incidentally, the time difference with Bahrain is two hours.

Ingo addresses a topic we still wanted to work on. Today, after the chaos of the past few days, we finally have the opportunity to do so. Last Sunday in Valtteri Bottas, in fact, at his last stop, only three wheels were changed. First of all: this process is legal as long as it is the same blend, as in the case of Bottas.
But why did Mercedes do this? Background: Bottas had a puncture at the start of the race and went from medium to hard and then back to medium. In the last period you have returned to the first sentence of the medium. Since the right front tire was damaged in the beginning, only three tires were replaced and the right front tire was reused.
So it was planned this way.
Grosjean returns with his wife
Or vice versa, because Marion Grosjean went to Bahrain to be with her husband. We are just happy for both of us, no need to add more to this photo.
Daily layout for this weekend …
… it seems. Up to Turn 4 the route is identical to the known route, then follows the new short section before returning to the familiar layout in Turn 9. On the short route there are lap times of less than a minute which means we will most likely see the lap fastest of all time in Formula 1 this weekend. We are definitely curious!
Media Day in Bahrain … again!
Hello and welcome to a new edition of our Formula 1 live ticker! No, we are not in a time warp, the premier class returned to Bahrain this weekend. That is why the obligatory media day is also held today in Sachir. Yet everything is somewhat different from a week ago, but we’ll talk about that later in the day …
Among other things, this Thursday there will be another XXL press conference with all 20 drivers. It starts only today at 16:40 and for a change with the two Mercedes drivers. One thing doesn’t change: Ruben Zimmermann will accompany you as usual in the next few days, and our contact form and our Twitter hashtag #FragMST are available as always for questions, criticisms and suggestions. Here we go!
