Phones have an incredible problem revealed by a Google cybersecurity expert, who discovered a vulnerability in Apple phones that allows them to break through WiFi, as you can see in the video above.
It’s hard to understand how such an extraordinarily serious problem could go unnoticed by Apple engineers, but based on this feat anyone can only crack iPhone phones via WiFi if they are close to an Apple device.
Apple had a period of time offered by the Google engineer to fix the problem before the vulnerability was revealed, but it seems no one has started exploiting it publicly, at least not yet.
“AWDL is Apple’s proprietary networking protocol designed to enable Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch to form ad-hoc peer-to-peer network networks. Chances are that if you have an Apple device, you create or connect to these transient mesh networks several times a day without realizing it.
If you’ve ever used Airdrop, streamed music to your Homepod or Apple TV via Airplay, or used your iPad as a secondary display with Sidecar, then you’ve used AWDL. And even if you haven’t used these features, if there were people nearby, your device may have joined the AWDL network they were using anyway. “
