Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip will spend Christmas at Windsor Castle this year, for the first time in more than 30 years, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday, according to AFP, according to news.
The royal couple traditionally spend their end-of-year holidays at their residence in Sandringham, Norfolk (eastern England), where they are joined by other family members.
But faced with the health situation, the 94-year-old sovereign and her 99-year-old husband, in fragile health conditions, decided to stay in the residence on the outskirts of London.
“After considering all the advice from their neighbors, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh have decided to spend Christmas in peace in Windsor this year,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said Tuesday.

During the first wave of the pandemic, the king and her husband took a break from public commitments and isolated themselves at their Windsor residence. They went to Balmoral Castle during the summer, as they usually did.
With over 59,000 deaths and 1.5 million Covid cases, Britain is the saddest country in Europe with the pandemic.
Prince Philip, who turned 99 in June, has had health problems for several years. In December 2019, he was hospitalized for four nights in a London hospital due to “pre-existing health problems” and joined the Queen in Norfolk on 24 December.
Prince Charles, the queen’s eldest son, had symptoms of Covid-19 in April, as did Prince William, second in line to the throne.
