Microsoft has released some new features in recent weeks, but nothing out of the ordinary. Basically, preview versions of Windows 10 21H1 are already being sent to Insiders. However without any additional functionality. As you know, Microsoft normally releases two versions that focus primarily on features. The main one takes place between April and May. Then there is a smaller one reserved for the second half of the year. More precisely between October and November. Microsoft is now testing the next major Windows 10 update.
Microsoft has already tested the next major Windows 10 update
If everything went as usual, the insiders would now test many features. The point is that Microsoft will make changes in 2021. Therefore, the small update arrives in the first half of the year. The great in the second half. This means that Windows 10 21H1 which is already being tested is a smaller version. So in October or November we will have Windows 10 21H2, which will be the big update.
Since Windows 10 21H1 won’t bring anything out of this world, Microsoft has started working on Windows 10 21H2, codenamed Cobalt.
This update includes new features. We will have, for example, the much discussed interface of Sun Valley which will reach the insiders only next year.
Meanwhile, it will make improvements to File Explorer, Start Menu, Action Center, and even the Taskbar.
Also, in the near future we can expect application windows with rounded corners, similar to the default layout we had in previous versions of Windows.
As we can see in the image above, Microsoft will clearly replace the sharp corners that served as the basis of the Windows 8 Metro interface.
It is also important to note that the new rounded corner design is already part of the main Windows 10 applications. Examples of this are the Calculator, Alarms and Clock, Calendar and even the Windows Terminal. In fact, the new Edge browser uses the rounded corner system.
