World AIDS Day is held every December 1st around the world. It is the scene of events in support of people living with HIV and commemorates the victims of AIDS-related diseases.

In the DRC, for the commemoration of this year 2020, the UN AIDS message will be launched by the Executive Director of UN AIDS based in Geneva, Winifred “Winnie” Karagwa Byanyimaqui, who will remain in Kinshasa for the occasion.

The celebration of AIDS Day is an opportunity for the National Multisectoral Program to Fight AIDS (PNMLS) and the United Nations AIDS Agency / DRC to raise awareness of all of humanity about the consequences of AIDS. HIV AIDS infection in society.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba received in audience, this Friday 27 November 2020 at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Susan Kasedde Muwanse, Executive Director of the United Nations for AIDS, led to the Head of Government by Dr. Liévin Kapend Kalala, National Executive Secretary of the National Multisectoral AIDS Control Program (PNMLS). During this meeting with Prime Minister Ilunga Ilunkamba, the delegation took stock of the preparations for the celebration of this World AIDS Day on 1 December.

The UN AIDS actively collaborates with the Congolese government to address the challenges related to the fight against HIV AIDS.
