The Pakistani team has heeded the alarm from the New Zealand government for violating the quarantine rules. Once that happens, they will be sent home, PCB CEO Wasim Khan told the team.
Pakistan went to New Zealand to play three Twenty20s and two Tests, where six Covid 19 tested positive. Even though the PCB says, everyone in Lahore was negative before the trip started. Auckland flew to Pakistan on a special charter flight, with special permission from the New Zealand government. So they should be in solitary confinement for 14 days in Christchurch. However, in the meantime, the New Zealand government has released a statement claiming that it has broken the quarantine rules. According to the statement, CCTV cameras found evidence of the Pakistani team’s non-compliance with protocol. The six positive results were isolated.
“Guys, I talked to the New Zealand government and they said three or four protocols were violated,” Wasim told the Pakistani team, according to ESPNcricinfo. “They have a zero tolerance policy and they’ve given us one last warning. We understand this is a difficult time for you and England has had to deal with this too. It’s not easy. But it’s a matter of honor for the nation. After these 14 days, you will be able to roam freely and go to restaurants. They made it clear and, once the rules are broken, they send us home. ”
New Zealand, which has been very successful in dealing with Covid-19, is now facing level one restrictions. However, they have no ongoing cases outside the isolation center. Previously, they had no new cases in the past 100 days.
