“At Christmas”

“Who wants unpleasant questions, funny family situations and filled with repressed feelings? Well, me too! ”Comedian Luke Mockridge writes on Instagram.

This is “ÜberWeihnachten”, his acting debut: Mockridge takes the lead role in the three-part comedy series and also produces the entire film.

Here’s what it is

Bastian’s (Luke Mockridge) life as a musician in Berlin doesn’t really work out, and he also finds it difficult to cope with the separation from his girlfriend Fine (Cristina do Rego). At Christmas he returns to the province, to his family.

He hopes for relaxation and a break from his career worries, but there he meets his old friends and realizes that they are in the middle of life and, unlike him, they are successful. And then Basti also discovers that his brother Niklas (Lucas Reiber) is now with Fine.

Mockridge’s childhood in the provinces

For the three 45-minute episodes, Mockridge drew inspiration from his family life, as he tells “Weser Kurier”: “I grew up very provincial, and even in seemingly perfect families you ran into things that weren’t right.”

There is tension in every family, Mockridge sees it as a common denominator: “That’s why I believe many can identify with it.”

“About Christmas” will be available on Netflix from November 27th. You can find the trailer above.

“Uncle Franc”

In the role of Sydney, Sophia Lillis developed explosive and uncontrollable superpowers, uprooted trees and got a nosebleed on the Netflix series “I’m Not Right”. In the Amazon Prime movie “Uncle Frank,” the 18-year-old now plays a completely different role.

In 1973 Beth (Sophia Lillis) moved from her hometown in the southern states to New York to study. His uncle Frank (Paul Bettany) works as a professor of literature at New York University.

Frank hides his strangeness

Beth soon discovers that Frank has been hiding something from her: he’s gay and lives with his partner Wally (Peter Macdissi) – he’s been keeping the relationship a secret from his family in the southern states for years.

When Frank’s father and Beth’s grandfather suddenly die, Frank returns to his hometown for the funeral, where he faces long suppressed trauma.

“Uncle Frank” will be available on Amazon Prime from November 25th. Here is the trailer.
