Good news arrives from Maranello for lovers of track days. There is a new “toy” to explore on the circuit: the Modified 488 GT is the latest Ferrari creation for exclusive use on the track, based on the best that the 488 GT3 and 488 GTE already offer in terms of technology.
The Cavallino Rampante brand informs that it is a limited edition, without specifying the “minimum” number of units that will be produced. What we do know is that the engineers paid special attention to the engine, now without the constraint of the BOP system (balance of performance) imposed by the International Automobile Federation.
As a result, some components have been redesigned and the twin-turbo V8 now delivers 700hp, with power and torque delivery regulated by different carbon fiber gear and clutch ratios. Furthermore, this is the material of choice for practically the entire bodywork of the super sports car (excluding the roof), aiming not only at low weight, as happens in the GTE, but also at greater aerodynamic efficiency. And the numbers speak for themselves: at 230 km / h, downforce generated by the Modified 488 GT is greater than 1000 kg. To this end, the center of pressure has been moved forward, which allows the Italian super sports car to be less sensitive to changes in the rear wing angle.
The time has come to brake, efficiency is also guaranteed, says Ferrari. The manufacturer has developed a braking system with Brembo that will initially limit the so-called fade, ie the loss of efficiency due to the increase in temperature and wear.
Intended for racing, this Ferrari is equipped as standard with V-Box and Bosch telemetry, a system for measuring tire pressure and temperature, among other elements. However, the brand remembers that anyone who wants can customize their unit however they want (and pay for it).
