Microsoft removed 12 malicious extensions for your Edge browser from your official store because inject ads into Google and Bing search engine results, all posing as legitimate “software”.

Malicious extensions passed off as legitimate ones that they are available but for other browsers, such as Google Chrome, as reported by the Microsoft Edge ‘community manager’ via Reddit.

The extension code has been changed to include user searches in tools like Google or Bing ads in the results, to whom do I know redirected via an OKSearch URL (https://oksearch.org/xa2/click.html).

Specifically, the 12 extensions for Edge removed from the official Microsoft store are NordVPN, Adguard VPN, TunnelBear VPN, The Great Suspender, Floating Player – Picture-in-Picture mode, Ublock Adblock Plus, Go Back with Backspace, Wayback Machine, friGate CDN – easy access to websites, Greasemonkey, Full Page Screenshot y One-click URL shortener.

Microsoft advised users to remove these Edge extensions from edge: // extensions in the search bar, as well as to contact the company if it detects that an additional extension is adding ads to the browser.
