Xiaomi Poco M3: the next price hit is coming

[ad_1]

Just in time for Christmas business, Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new entry-level smartphone. It comes from the Poco family, which also includes the popular Poco F2 Pro and the recently launched Poco X3 NFC. The Poco M3, which was recently unveiled on Tuesday, clearly focuses on an affordable price, but is stingy in some areas in terms of equipment. In return, it scores with an energy storage device that has almost a unique strength. The basic approach is: to offer entry-level hardware at a fair price.

Entry-level smartphone in three colors

Perhaps the most important message: the 198-gram mobile phone display is large. The diagonal size is 6.53 inches and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. The aspect ratio is 19.5: 9. The fingerprint sensor is not located behind the display or on the back, but is integrated into the side bezel. The back is available in black, blue or yellow and should be less prone to fingerprints with a textured surface.

It is also found on the back: a very simple triple camera. The main activities are carried out by a 48-megapixel sensor along with a lens with an f / 1.8 aperture and autofocus. The main camera is equipped with a night mode, among other things, and allows slow motion video at 120 fps. In addition, two 2-megapixel cameras are installed. In addition to a macro camera, there is also a depth of field module, each with an aperture of f / 2.4. It lacks a camera and a wide angle. The front camera has a resolution of up to 8 megapixels.

There are three cameras on the rear of the Poco M3.

Xiaomi relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 662 for the processor. It is supported by 4GB of RAM. More RAM is rarely common in the entry-level class. On the software side, Android 10 is pre-installed with a custom user interface (MIUI 12). Other features include two speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, two SIM (dual SIM) and dual WLAN (2.4 and 5 GHz) card slots, Bluetooth 5.0, and an FM radio. However, you have to do without an NFC interface. This means that mobile payment with the Poco M3 is unfortunately not possible either.

But there is a really large battery with a capacity of a whopping 6,000 mAh. Little himself speaks of the largest battery in the segment in which the Poco M3 is fighting for market share. A look at the Samsung Galaxy M21, for example, shows that the transitions are quite smooth. It also has a 6,000mAh battery and is currently available starting at just under € 190.

How much does the Xiaomi Poco M3 cost?

The Xiaomi Poco M3 will be available in two memory versions from November 27th. Initially exclusively via the internal online shop and on Amazon. With 64 GB of storage, the smartphone costs only 129 euros for four days. If you want 128GB of storage, you have to pay 149 euros. After that, the cellphone costs 149 and 169 euros in the two variants mentioned.

The conclusion is that Xiaomi Poco M3 is a smartphone that wants to swim with the large mass of smartphones under 200 euros. And I want to score with rock solid equipment with a huge battery as a highlight. But the competition is great. Even at home. For example, you can currently protect Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro (128GB of memory / 6GB of RAM). Cost: around 170 euros. The Honor 9X Pro, which is currently available from Amazon for just under $ 170, also offers access to 256GB of storage.

In this regard, the following applies: the approach of bringing a smartphone to the market at a price of around 150 euros can certainly be worth it for Xiaomi. But if you are smart, don’t take the first offer, but find out first if there could be even better equipped smartphones. Our rankings offer you good assistance in this regard.
