Google Fit on Wear OS: these are the innovations

Google recently announced innovations for Google Fit, now everything is again specified for Wear OS, or for smartwatches with Google operating system. Training tracking in Wear OS has been improved with a simpler user interface and a fresh new design.

During training, users can now see the most important key figures with two tiles. With a swipe to the right you can easily access multimedia controls and settings during training.

You will also receive a notification for each kilometer driven so you can see how you are “in the race”, what your current pace is.

Users can also see if they are collecting heart points by using the heart rate zones at the top of the screen. Performance metrics for training (calories, steps, time, heart rate points) can be changed with a tap of your finger.

Athletes can set a target distance, number of calories, steps, or a cardio point goal for each workout and can be updated on their progress.

According to Google, it’s easy to accidentally tap the watch while exercising. Users can now activate touch lock directly from their workout. With this feature enabled, users can still use the hardware buttons to pause, resume and switch screens and hold the power button to turn off the watch. The watch must be running on the latest Wear OS system version (H MR2) for this feature to work.

Finally, the new breathing card is intended to facilitate access to guided breathing sessions. Once done, users can see a summary of how their heart rate has changed between the start and finish, and they can also see a summary of their breathing sessions for the week.
