Quartararo greeted the Petronas Sepang Racing Team in 14th place, which had placed its trust in him in the summer of 2018 and allowed him to enter the premier class of the motorcycle world championship last year. “The last race with the team was quite exciting, unfortunately it didn’t end as I wanted. I wanted to finish with a great result. The feeling with the bike was good and I think we could have fought for a place between 5th and 8th today. Too bad that the problems with the pump in the arm prevented it, ”said the young man from Nice.
The disappointing results after his third win of the season in Catalonia also ensured the move of “El Diablo” to eighth place in the World Cup standings. He started the shortened 2020 season with two straight wins at Jerez in June, thus declaring his ambitions to succeed six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez.
“When the last six races have gone so badly, it’s hard to say: ‘I’m happy with the season.’ But I can say that this season has given me three wins. Some riders never win in MotoGP, I already have three wins in my pocket. When I look back on it, it’s really good. So somehow it was a great season, but unfortunately the ending wasn’t so flawless. That’s why I’m a little sad, “Quartararo said.
