[ad_1]

Whatever model you have, these are the steps we need to follow mute announcements or delete voice recordings in case you used Alexa.

Disable Ads on Amazon Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV allows us to install applications, games and all kinds of features to make any TV smart. But some of these applications may also show you personalized ads or gather usage information and personal data to match or refine the advertising displayed. But you can disable interest-based ads on your Amazon Fire TV.

To do this, we can do it from our Amazon account.

On the web page, follow these steps:

  • Opens Amazon.es
  • Log in with your email and password
  • At the top right of the screen, tap “Accounts & Lists”
  • A drop-down menu with several options will open
  • Choose the “Manage content and devices” option

Here you will see, on the top tab of the Amazon screen, that there are several options:

  • Manage content and devices
  • Satisfy
  • devices
  • preferences
  • Privacy settings

Choose the “Privacy Settings” option and Amazon will offer you two options:

  • Alexa Privacy
  • Device privacy

Privacy

Choose the second and tap “Manage settings”

Once you reach this point, all the devices you have linked to your Amazon account will appear. Devices may appear Amazon Fire, Amazon Fire TV, a Kindle… They will all appear and you will have to choose the one you want to configure to disable the ads. In our case, Fire TV Cube, as you can see in the attached screenshot to follow the instructions.

devices

Below, when choosing a Fire TV device, whatever the model, you will see three options with their respective switches to enable or disable:

  • Device usage data: Use of personal data for commercial and product improvement purposes.
  • Interest-based ads– Allow apps on this device to use your ad ID to create profiles or show you interest-based ads
  • Collect application usage data: Get information on how often and how long the downloaded applications are used.

Ads

Turn off all three switches if you want to remove ads or turn off ads on your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV. When you tap the switch to turn it off, you will see that there is a pop-up window with a warning. In the case of “Interest based ads” we will see the following message on the screen:

“If you turn off the interest-based ads option, apps they won’t use your ad ID to create advertising profiles or to show you ads based on your interests on this device. The Ad ID is an identifier that can be used to create profiles or advertise according to your interests and can be reset. “

Tap the “Deactivate” button to complete the process. Whenever you want or regret it, you can follow the same steps to activate it again.

What information does Alexa collect?

According to the information provided by Amazon on their help page Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Edition devices, the information collected concerns data relating to “the use you make of the device and its characteristics, such as navigation on the home screen, the selection of settings in the device configuration”. This information is offered to provide you with device features such as opening an app, resetting settings or resolving incidents. However, you can control the privacy and information collected by the settings.

  • Open Settings on your Amazon device
  • Go to Preferences to adjust privacy
  • Tap Privacy Settings
  • Access the “Device Usage Data” option

Amazon explains that when you disable this option, your device usage data will no longer be processed to share personalized commercial offers with you.

Clear voice history

If you have an Amazon Fire TV Cube, it just doesn’t work like a stick for the tv but also as an Amazon Echo speaker that you can ask or ask for things. In that case, from the Alexa app we can check the voice history and delete it.

  • Open the Alexa application on your mobile
  • Go to “More” at the bottom right of the menu
  • Tap Activities
  • Here, in the top menu, choose Voice History

You will see the voice history of today and of all your devices. You can filter by date (today, yesterday, last seven days, last 30 days, all history …) or filter by device if you have more than one Amazon Fire TV or Amazon Echo at home.

After filtering, you can see all your voice recordings and you will see that there is a button that says “Delete all my recordings”. Touch it.

Alexa

Devices with ads

Amazon offers its devices with or without advertising in the case of some models such as Kindle or Amazon Fire, e-reader or tablet. You can choose the file special offers option on your Fire or Kindle or without them and we will usually see a difference in price: if you accept special offers you will see that the product is cheaper than without. There are no offers when browsing or reading books, but they are shown in the screensaver in sleep mode or on the lock screen. In the case of the Kindle e-reader they will appear when they are in sleep mode and not when you are in full reading. On Fire tablets, offers and promotions appear on the lock screen. It’s not particularly annoying but it should be let’s keep that in mind when purchasing the device as once purchased we cannot choose to disable advertising. Generally, the price difference is usually around 10 euros to 20 euros.
