Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted that Tottenham are in contention for the title this season following a 2-0 win over Man City on Saturday.
Spurs made a big statement in this year’s Premier League title race as they bypassed Leicester and Chelsea to clinch top spot thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso.

The way Tottenham won was particularly impressive, as they diligently defended in their own half to stifle City’s attack before quickly catching them off guard.
And Wright believes that Arsenal’s close rivals should now be seen as serious contenders for the title.
Asked if Spurs have a chance to win the trophy this season, Wright told the BBC’s Match of the Day: “Yes, looking at this, especially if the teams give them that much space, it will hurt people.”
The Spurs were in the lead already in the fifth minute when Tanguy Ndombele freed Son with a delicate chip over the top, which his teammate duly finished between Ederson’s legs.

Harry Kane then almost doubled the Spurs’ lead immediately, waving Son’s square pass only to be denied by the offside flag.
City blocked the hosts looking for an equalizer and he too had the ball at the bottom of the net via Aymeric Laporte, but the defender’s goal was canceled by the VAR for a hand ball in preparation.

They pushed forward in numbers in the second half but struggled to take Tottenham down before Lo Celso ran over Kane’s pass to shoot low in the far corner and seal the win.
Wright’s co-expert Alan Shearer was also full of praise for Tottenham’s performance.
“The spurs were tactically brilliant,” Shearer said. “They were lethal on the counterattack, defended beautifully and were very well organized. With those two world-class forwards, they looked very, very impressive.”
