MLB: Reds and Astros announce major launch change

The Reds announced the acquisition of rookie pitcher of the Astros, Brandon Bailey in exchange for cash. Additionally, they also received Minor League right-hand Freddy Medina as part of the pending deal when the Astros received left-handed rescuer Brooks Raley from Cincinnati.

Aside from that pair of exchanges with Houston, the Reds have added Vladimir Gutierrez, Riley O’Brien and Jared Solomon to their roster of 40. All are now protected from selection in next month’s draft rule 5. Cincinnati’s 40-man roster now includes 36 players.

After four years of launching in the minor leagues, Brandon Bailey was blessed with luck after Dusty Baker debuted him in 2020 with his Astros.

While he could only hit just over seven innings, he did well, eventually posting an ERA of 2.45 in five games when he came out of the bullpen. Now with the Reds, his role as a reliever should continue.
