Now that it’s on the market, the iPhone 12 Pro has been rated by some entities with signed credits. One of them is DxOMark, which uniquely evaluates the field of smartphone photography.
Initial results weren’t very positive for Apple’s new smartphone, but a new evaluation was expected. This focuses on the front camera and, once again, it was not good for the iPhone 12 Pro. The results again place it below the competition.
New DxOMark tests on iPhone 12 Pro
After the evaluation presented a few days ago, focused on the capabilities of the cameras of the iPhone 12 Pro, they expected news. The next step would be to evaluate the photographic capabilities of the front camera and what it is capable of offering.
DxOMark's first response was not positive, placing the iPhone 12 Pro below the competition, and this was no different. Once again the capabilities of this Apple smartphone were inferior to what other smartphones are able to offer users.
The front camera falls short of the competition
With 98 points, 101 for photography and 93 for video, it's done remain in seventh position in the DxOMark table. This places it below the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and P4 Pro, and others, being improved, however, over the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which had 92 points.
DxOMark reveals that the images are of high quality, but they are not among the best in this segment. They are useful for the basic tasks of capturing photos and videos, just like in Portrait mode with effects that work at depth of field. Dolby HDR technology videos are presented as impressive in color, exposure and dynamic focus.
Again, the Apple smartphone is anything but expected
However, a lot of noise was detected in photos under certain conditions, in the background, or in videos recorded in low-light environments. Exposure with flash on and motion in the video was also criticized. They do not compromise the final quality, but they score points in the final evaluation.
The evaluations made to Apple's iPhone 12 have been contradictory. After a low score to reach the top of DxOMark, it achieved a very good result in the evaluation of the screen, in the Pro Max. Now, in the field of front photography, it is again below the expected.
